Note on the art of Photography, or The Application of the Chemical Rays of Light to the Purpose of Pictorial Representation

El 14 de Marzo de 1839 Sir John Frederich William Herschel presenta en la Royal Society en Somerset House, Londres, lee su articulo "Note on the art of Photography, or The Application of the Chemical Rays of Light to the Purpose of Pictorial Representation"

Es una de las primeras ocasiones, sino la primera, en la que la palabra "photography" es empleada.

El articulo de Herschel sugiere el uso de hiposulfitos ("Hypo") para fijar las imágenes fotográficas.



El 23 de marzo el semanario Atheneum recogía este hecho.
